Jurgen Klopp has ruled Joel Matip out of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Brighton - and fans are absolutely fuming.

The 26-year-old centre-back has been a saving grace for the Reds this season, offering assured defensive displays when others have failed to impress.

He's made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Anfield club this campaign, and has increasingly become an integral part of the first team.

But he will play no part in Liverpool's Saturday afternoon fixture after "feeling something muscle wise," according to his boss.

The news has come as a bitter blow to Reds supporters, with many acknowledging their lack of depth in the centre-back position.

Matip has already missed a number of games for Liverpool this season, after he suffered a thigh injury at the beginning of November.

It is not clear when he will return for the Reds, which creates more problems, now that the Christmas period is upon us and fixtures are due to come thick and fast.
