Jurgen Klopp has been given a boost ahead of this weekend's action following the return of Emre Can.
The German midfielder has been passed fit to play but the Reds' defensive headache remains, report the Liverpool Echo.
The Germany international returned to full training at Melwood on Thursday afternoon after picking up a knock in the draw against Burnley last weekend.
Can came through unscathed and is expected to be recalled to Klopp’s midfield as the Reds look to end a four-game winless run.
However, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip both sat out the session and the first-choice centre-backs are running out of time to prove their fitness.
Lovren is likely to be sidelined for a third successive match but Klopp retains hope that Matip’s minor hamstring issue will clear up in time for him to feature at the King Power Stadium.
Matip will be re-assessed by the club medical staff on Friday.
If Matip doesn’t make it then Joe Gomez will once again partner Ragnar Klavan at the heart of the Reds’ backline.
