Tony Pulis RESTED England ace Jake Livermore this weekend — just four games into West Brom ’s Premier League season.

Midfielder Livermore was omitted altogether from Albion’s squad for the 0-0 draw against West Ham.

Boss Pulis says he has given the 27-year-old, signed from Hull City in January for £10million, several days off after he cited fatigue.

Livermore played 89 minutes of England's World Cup qualifier against fierce rivals Scotland in June and this month started the win away to Malta and came on as a sub in the home victory over Slovakia.

This season, he played every minute of the Baggies' first three league games and started the fourth — the loss at Brighton — before coming off on 70 minutes.

He also played 25 minutes as a sub in the Carabao Cup win over Accrington.

Pulis insisted: “It is nothing negative.

“I think for the first time going away with England during the summer and then having these two call-ups, I think playing all the time has really taken it out of the boy. We had a chat with Jake at the beginning of the week. Jake came to see me. He has felt a little bit jaded, mentally more than anything else.

“We check all of his running stats and his data and he had dropped off a bit. So we are going to give him a couple of days off. We could have done with his energy against West Ham, with the way the game went. Physically he is fine, but mentally he just feels a little bit tired.

“He is such a good player for us that we don’t want to risk him going into a deeper hole.”

Livermore, who previously tested positive for cocaine in 2015 after the death of his baby son, will be rested again for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup game at home to league leaders Manchester City.

But Pulis says the star will return to training next day, to be ready to face Arsenal next Monday night.

The Welshman added: “He won’t play on Wednesday. But hopefully he will be ready to face Arsenal. He will be in on Thursday, because we play Monday night. He’ll have a couple of days away from it.”
