Jurgen Klopp has an old-fashioned plan to cope with Liverpool's two matches in 48 hours over the New Year period - take each game as it comes.
The Reds boss will see his side host Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday, before taking them to Turf Moor to take on this season's surprise package Burnley on New Year's Day.
It is the second campaign in succession that Liverpool have faced two games over three days around the turn of the year.
But Klopp received criticism last season for only making one change to the team that beat Manchester City 1-0 on New Year's Eve for a game at Sunderland on January 2, which they ended up drawing 2-2.
This season however, with a bigger and better squad available, the German has regularly made five or six changes to his starting XI.
"You cannot learn from it, you only learn to accept it. That’s all,” Klopp told Liverpool's official website when asked if last season will be on his mind over the next week.
“We have to be fully concentrated on the Leicester game and after the Leicester game we have a few hours to ‘collect the bones’ to see who is able to play against Burnley and then we’ll make the line-up.
“It’s different. We don’t moan about it. We play Leicester, we play Burnley and we play Everton – no problem with that.”
That Everton clash - a potential debut for new signing Virgil van Dijk - comes in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday January 5, meaning Liverpool will face three games in six days.
But Klopp is ready.
"It all depends on injuries. We feel really well-prepared," he continued.
“It’s not that last year we were not prepared for this period; we had injuries in the wrong moment. That’s how it is. We have injuries now – hopefully there will not be a few more players injured.
“If we have our squad together then we are prepared for pretty much everything. Now, the focus is on Leicester. We are prepared for that game, for sure, and then we will see.”
