Manchester United will struggle without Paul Pogba .

That is the verdict of Henrikh Mkhitaryan as France midfielder Pogba awaits the verdict of how long he will be out sidelined for.

United’s £89million record transfer signing suffered a hamstring injury during last week’s Champions League win over Basel.

He missed Sunday’s 4-0 Premier League victory over Everton and will now undergo further scans to determine his recovery period.

Manager Jose Mourinho labelled reports that Pogba will missing for three months as ‘nonsense’.

But Mkhitaryan fears that United, who have made a stunning start to the new season, will be hit hard if the influential midfielder is sidelined for an extensive period.

"It's hard, because he's a top player for us," he told France's SFR Sport .

"It's going to be very difficult, but the coach knows how to make up for that and we're going to help him come back stronger."

Mourinho's side share top spot in the Premier League table with Manchester City and have 13 points from five games.

Both Manchester clubs have scored 16 goals and conceded only two.

United host Championship side Burton in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before travelling to Southampton in the league on Saturday.
