Kevin Campbell has accused Arsenal of letting Theo Walcott down, with Glenn Hoddle adding the attacker could have become "world class".

The former Gunners and Spurs stars were discussing the 28-year-old after he scored against BATE Borisov on Thursday night.

Arsenal won the clash 6-0 and Walcott put in an impressive shift before being substituted with 20 minutes to go.

Despite scoring 19 goals in 37 appearances last season, Walcott's game time this season has largely been limited to the Europa League.

The attacker has only managed to accrue 27 Premier League minutes so far this term.

Walcott signed for the Gunners in 2006 at the age of 16 with a huge amount of potential.

And despite making England's World Cup squad in 2006, the Gunners star has failed to live up to the hype that surrounded him at such a young age.

Speaking on ITV's Europa League Highlights show, Campbell believes Arsenal are to blame for Walcott not fulfilling his potential.

"In my opinion I think the club has let Theo Walcott down in a sense," said the former Gunenrs striker. "When Walcott came into the football club fair enough there was fantastic players there, your Theirry Henry's etc.

"But he was still learning his trade. He still needs to be developed and have the tools for the toolbox.

"His talent hasn't developed over the years. I think he has patches of play where he can be devastating, and everybody gets frustrated because they know how talented he is. I think he got 19 goals last season."

Hoddle added: "He's got fantastic ability now and he had it when he was 20, what's happened in them eight years that's what I'm saying.

"I'm saying from 20 to 28 we had an opportunity, this kid could have been world class, everyone would have known him, he would have been playing regularly for England.

"He just needed to learn the game and he was developed too quickly."
