Pep Guardiola will not be punished for angrily berating Southampton’s Nathan Redmond after Manchester City’s last-gasp win last week.

The FA asked the City boss for his observations for appearing to aggressively confront Redmond for not attacking more at the end of the Blues’ 2-1 victory.

Guardiola said he regretted his behaviour, admitting he needs to control his emotions better, and the FA have decided not to take any action against him.

They have accepted his version of events, but they have reminded him of his responsibilities.

Redmond also played down the incident, claiming Guardiola was “only complimentary and positive” to him.

Guardiola had until Monday to respond to the FA and said on Friday: “I cannot control myself. I have to do that. Hopefully I can improve.

“What Redmond said in his statement, I admire him as a player and thank him for his comments.”
