Sean Dyche hopes Burnley’s shock season-opening win at champions Chelsea lays to rest the club’s away-day blues.
The Clarets saw out a stunning victory after winning just once on the road in the Premier League last season — at Crystal Palace in April.
David Luiz scored late but Dyche’s men saw out a 3-2 win, and he now believes his men are ready to prove as hard to beat on their travels as they were at home last season.
He said: “It’s important because, those stories, they do bleed into the mentality.
“We all get the media coverage now, it’s vast.
“If the players constantly get reminded of these things it’s hard because the mentality’s like, ‘When will it come, when will it come?’
“This win does not guarantee anything, but it still has to be enjoyed. Then I can assure you I’ll be ready to focus on Monday — because another big challenge comes our way next week.”
Burnley, who host West Brom on Saturday, have sold £30million defender Michael Keane to Everton and £18.5m striker Andre Gray to Watford this summer.
“Almost every year, some of the best players go out of the building,” added Dyche.
“It’s a reality of a club like Burnley, but I’m not one for crying at anything.”
