Dele Alli has revealed he has spoken to Mauricio Pochettino about trying to control his temper.

Tottenham midfielder Alli was banned last season for lashing out at West Brom’s Claudio Yacob and gained a reputation for being a hot head.

But Spurs boss Pochettino has spoken with him this summer about keeping his temper in check.

Alli, 20, said: “I have made a few mistakes with my temper, but I have learned from that, the manager has spoken to me and I realise I can't do those kind of things and need to keep them under control.

“I wouldn't say I'm the finished article, I still have a lot to learn and can keep improving. I'm just going to keep working hard on and off the training field.”

England boss Sam Allardyce has made it clear that Alli now faces a straight fight with Wayne Rooney to play in the No10 role for England.

It is a challenge which Alli is ready to embrace even if it means in the short term he will have to drop down to the bench.

Alli added: “Everyone likes a bit of competition, I'm going to keep working hard and I will be happy to play anywhere for the country.

“I'm young and would like to play anywhere, if the manager chooses Wayne to play in the number 10 role I will take it and just working hard. I'm not really bothered where he puts me.”
