Chelsea striker Diego Costa is expected to discover from the FA today as to whether he will face retrospective action following his antics during the Blues win over Arsenal on Saturday.

The Spain international was instrumental in the champions win over their London rivals, but it was his role in off-the-ball clashes with Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista which could mean trouble for the forward.

Costa initially clashed with Koscielny, appearing to push his hands into the face of the French defender - an incident seemingly unseen by officials - before Gabriel stepped in.

The duo, who have clashed previously during their time in La Liga, exchanged words and pushes, before both were booked by referee Mike Dean.

However, as they retreated to the halfway line the verbal sparring continued, leading to Brazilian Gabriel kicking out and subsequently being sent off.

More: Diego Costa and Gabriel have history

Costa was retrospectively sanctioned by the Football Association back in January for treading on Liverpool's Emre Can.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho was left furious by that decision, declaring it part of a "campaign" against his side.

That also included a Sky Sports montage entitled "Costa' Crimes", which saw Mourinho launch an attack on an unnamed Sky Sports pundit.

After the weekend win - only Chelsea's second in six Premier League games this term - Mourinho hailed his striker as man of the match, declaring him "fantastic".

However, Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger had a contrasting view, labelling Costa's actions "unacceptable" - and hopes that the officials will look again at Costa's actions after filing his match report on Monday.

“He can do what he wants and he stays on. Everyone else that responds to him has to be sent off," stated Wenger.

"It’s unacceptable. But he always gets away with it. He will do the same again next week, and the week after, and he always gets away with it.”

The Frenchman also rebuked Dean for allowing the feud between Costa and Gabriel to continue, before the Brazilian was handed his marching orders.

"He [Dean] let it go and I don't know why," Wenger said.

"I would like Mike Dean to look at the whole action that happened during the game and see if he stands for his decision.

Petition: Arsenal fans want to stop Mike Dean refereeing their games

"You have a fourth official, you have a linesman, the referee and they talk all the game. They can tell you and they know Diego Costa. He is not a newcomer.

"It is surprising. If I am a referee and I referee Diego Costa, I do not send somebody off quickly if he responds to it because you know he has been well provoked."
