Alexandre Lacazette is "physically diminished" following Arsenal's goalless draw with Chelsea on Wednesday.

That's according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who admitted the Carabao Cup semi-final clash was a "difficult game for him".

Arsenal splashed out £52million to land the former Lyon striker in the summer, and he started his career in north London brilliantly with a goal in his Emirates debut.

But since then Lacazette has struggled to convince Wenger he deserves a full ninety minutes, and has been regularly substituted in the Premier League.

On Wednesday the France international was hooked on the 66th minute mark at Stamford Bridge, and looked dejected making way for Alexis Sanchez.

Lacazette has now failed to score since Arsenal's 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on December 2, and is struggling for confidence.

Discussing the striker in Friday's press conference, Wenger said: "It has affected him a little bit [his form].

"He was a bit diminished physically on Wednesday night. He was very isolated and it was a difficult game for him. I don't worry that he will come back."

Lacazette was prolific in Ligue 1 last season, netting 36 times in 44 games.

But he needs quality service in order to shine, something he hasn't been receiving often enough in the absence of Mesut Ozil.
