Arsene Wenger says an announcement on his future will be made after the FA Cup final - and insists Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez want to stay as well.

Wenger’s contract expires in the summer which could mean Sunday’s game with Everton could be his last ever at the Emirates.

But Wenger is expected to stay for another two years and says his star duo’s recent performances show they are also fully committed.

Arsenal will have a board meeting after the FA Cup final and that is when Wenger’s future will be decided but everything points towards him staying even if they miss out on the top four.

Ozil and Sanchez only have one year left on their deals and Wenger made it clear that if they do not make the Champions League then the players must take their share of the blame.

When asked whether missing out on the top four would make it tough to keep them, Wenger said: “No, because they are part of the results as well. Like I am.

“But I don’t question, at the moment, their focus an their determination because every game they turn up and give strong performances. They don’t behave like players who are disinterested in the future of the club.

“Overall, I think first of all they are under contract and secondly they behave like they want to be in the Champions League and like they want to be at the club.”

Wenger was elusive when asked about his own future and whether it would be his last game at the Emirates.

“Of the season, yes,” said Wenger, who was then asked if it will be his last game. “I cannot tell you that. I think it (the board meeting) is after the FA Cup.

“I have been asked if there is a board meeting before the cup final. I said no, after. And of course, I will be there and at the moment I think we should focus on short-term and what’s going on on Sunday and in the cup final.

“You have certainly to know that there are many aspects of a football club which have to be discussed at a board meeting.

“One of them is of course what is happening with the manager, the future, the players who have to come in, the renewal of contracts. You don’t miss problems in a board meeting.”

Wenger also dropped another major hint on his future by changing his stance slightly about working with a director of football.

Arsenal are believed to be ready to bring someone in who will work alongside him to ease his workload but not pick transfers or work as a traditional director of football.

“Director of Football, when I say that, is a guy who decides the decisions that normally are down to the manager,” said Wenger.

“That means selection of players buying and all matters that concern the functioning of the team on a daily basis. Of course we can need help to become better, yes of course. I am always open to open that.

“I am always open to things that improve the quality and the future of the club. Apart from that, after that you have to see if it’s really efficient because the titles do not always make you better.”

Wenger said that Aaron Ramsey will be fit for Sunday but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still out and Laurent Koscielny will have a late test.

Meanwhile, Wenger also dismissed Tony Adams’ comments in his new book Sober that he was a poor coach and did not want him back at the club because he does not like strong characters.

Wenger added: “Well, I do not give too much importance to what Tony Adams says. Honestly.”
