Arsenal starlet Chuba Akpom is already preparing for the new campaign - despite pre-season training at Arsenal not getting underway for another few weeks.

Twenty-year-old Akpom uploaded a video to Twitter of himself running on a treadmill and sweating it out on an exercise bike.

Alongside the clip, he wrote: "Preparing for the season ahead, can't wait to be back in action, hungrier than ever."

Arsenal academy product Akpom has been with the club since he was six years old and made his senior debut in September 2013.

The 20-year-old striker spent last season on loan at Hull but scored just three league goals in 35 appearances for Steve Bruce's side.

He was an unused substitute as the Tigers beat Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship play-off final.

After Akpom scored a hat-trick in a pre-season match for Arsenal last July, Arsene Wenger called on him to prove he has the requisite quality to play for the Gunners.

"I know he has potential, he has an aggressive desire in the box. He can brush people away, he has an intense desire to score," Wenger said.

"I believe this is an encouragement to him to work even harder and to show he can play in the first team."
