Mesut Ozil's behaviour after Arsenal's defeat to bitter rivals Manchester United raised a few eyebrows on Saturday.

The Gunners were made to pay for early defensive lapses and eventually lost 3-1 to United, who had Paul Pogba sent off for a dangerous challenge on Hector Bellerin.

Despite the loss, Ozil impressed and looked dangerous throughout the game.

What he did afterwards may leave some fans feeling uneasy, though.

The German playmaker, whose contract expires at the end of the season, was filmed hugging a number of Manchester United's coaches after the final whistle.

Ozil knows the coaches from his time at Real Madrid, but worried Gooners may also see it as a sign of his increasingly likely move to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out a move for the 29-year-old while Ozil is known to hold the Portuguese coach in high regard.

“No comment,” said Mourinho when asked about signing Ozil, before admitting it was no surprise to him that players like Ozil and Sanchez were happy to run down their contracts.

“That’s football. They finish their contracts, Fellaini finishes his contract and there are other important players in Europe in other teams who finish their contracts.

“Sometimes players decide to go in this direction, which is the right that they have. Players have the right to do that and I don’t blame the clubs.

“The clubs, they try. They try, they try, but the players have the right to go into this type of situation and in many times it’s good for them.

“Sometimes they can go on a free transfer and they can get huge salaries.”
