Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is at the centre of an intense transfer tug-of-war with a number of Premier League clubs chasing his siganture.

The 29-year-old looks certain to leave north London this January, with Manchester City, Manchester United, and even Liverpool waiting to pounce.

The Red Devils have emerged as favourites to land the tenacious Chilean, despite the Citizens leading the race going into January.

Pep Guardiola's side are not prepared to pay the £35million being quote by Arsenal for the forward's services.

Sanchez is also demanding a three-and-a-half-year contract worth £400,000-a-week, and a £15million signing-on fee, which City are unwilling to pay.

Manchester United on the other hand, are happy to part with the cash in the hope of landing the Chilean ahead of their city rivals.

They are also prepared to offer Arsenal a player-plus-cash transfer that would see £27million playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the opposite way.

Liverpool are the latest club to show an interest in the Chilean, and, armed with cash from the £142million sale of Philippe Coutinho, have the money to make the transfer happen.

So where will Sanchez be when the window slams shut at the end of January?

According to his Arsenal teammates, they believe the former Barcelona man will snub the chance to link up with his former manager Pep Guardiola and opt to sign for Manchester United.

It seems the lure of a huge contract - worth around £400,000-a-week - United are handing the pen for him to sign is proving a huge draw for Sanchez.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand recently discussed the transfer sage, and admitted Sanchez should probably sign for Manchester City.

Speaking on BT Sport, the Red Devils legend said: "I am going to be honest, if he has got an option to go from Arsenal to go to Manchester City or Manchester United, as a footballer who wanted to win trophies and would judge myself based on trophies being won, at the moment Manchester City looks like the place to go for him in that respect.

"They are top of the league, they are going to win the league this season, they are in the Champions League, they are looking like they will be in the final for the League cup, the FA Cup as well potentially.

"So he has got more opportunities to win trophies there."
