Mesut Ozil has denied he's asked Arsenal top brass for a contract worth £300,000.

Yesterday we broke the news that Ozil has told his Arsenal team-mates he'll sign for Manchester United .

The Germany midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and can leave for nothing then, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted publicly last week that they could end up selling him in January.

However a close friend of Ozil reportedly told The Sun: “He has not been offered £300,000 a week — in fact, he has no offers on the table from Arsenal or any other club.

“And he is not seeking to become the highest-paid player in the Premier League. That’s not his aim.”

Pals on Ozil went on to say he's angry at the flak coming his way, and believes he is a pawn in a bigger game.

Arsene Wenger expects 100 per cent from Ozil

Arsene Wenger has vowed to play Mesut Ozil as normal despite the midfielder expecting to move to Manchester United in January.

German Ozil has been confidently bragging to Gunners teammates this week that he is ready to switch the Emirates for Old Trafford when the transfer window re-opens in just over two months time, as revealed by Mirror Football's John Cross.

Ozil is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season, when he can depart for nothing, and Arsene Wenger would prefer to cash in rather than let his star walk away for nothing later.

Wenger told the club website: “We have to deal with all kinds of speculation when the players are at the end of their contracts.

“On the other hand, to be professional is to give 100 per cent as long as you are somewhere.

Barcelona enter race for Gunners target Andre Silva

Andre Silva may only have moved to AC Milan in the summer from Porto for a princely sum of £33million, but clubs are already circling.

Arsene Wenger is interested in the Portuguese international to replace want-away Alexis Sanchez after a successful start in Northern Italy.

But with the Neymar cash burning a hole in their pocket, the Nou Camp side are also tracking the 21-year-old - who has netted six times in the Europa league

But AC Milan are still strapped for cash and big money could be hard to turn down for their recent arrival.
