Arsenal fans think they know why owner Stan Kroenke has so far been reluctant to stump up big money for the club to make signings in this transfer window.

While other Premier League giants have splashed the cash to strengthen their team this summer, with Manchester United landing £75m striker Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea signing £67m forward Alvaro Morata, and Man City buying up everyone else.

Arsenal have been a little more cautious with their cash. Sure, they broke their transfer record to land £52m man Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon. But aside from that they've only signed Sead Kolasinac on a free.

What's more, fans have seen their club apparently give up on signing other targets, including Monaco star Thomas Lemar, who may now be on his way to Liverpool. And, after selling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the Reds, could be set to make a profit.

Speaking to Swedish broadcaster Viasat, Wenger previously hit out at the current market, saying: "Today, the prices are out of proportion. The transfer market has become very demanding today.

"There is no transfer market anymore because the price depends only on the identity of the buyer and when you are English, you have straight away 50 per cent [extra] on the price of a player and that makes it difficult to act."

Arsenal fans are unhappy that their club is apparently being left behind, and have an interesting theory as to why they're not throwing money about. Although, of course, there is still plenty of time for this to change.

The Gunners' majority shareholder Kroenke is currently planning to take out a $1billion loan - the biggest ever taken out by a sports team - to pay for his NFL franchise St Louis Rams' new stadium.

All in, the LA project could cost close to a staggering $3billion, and well, some Arsenal fans think their owner might just be prioritising other things right now.
