Chile's 3-0 loss to Brazil on Tuesday night meant they failed to qualify for next summer's 2018 World Cup in Russia.

A double from Gabriel Jesus and a tap in from Paulinho meant Brazil finished top of the South American qualifying group with an impressive +30 goal difference.

Chile still could have qualified with a loss but Peru's shock draw with Colombia ensured La Roja's absence from Russia next year.

Ironically, it was Arsenal teammate David Ospina's mistake that gifted Peru their vital equaliser.

Sanchez's absence from the World Cup next year means for the first time in his Gunners career he will have a summer off.

Since joining Arsenal, the 28-year-old has played in the 2014 World Cup, 2015 Copa America, 2016 Copa America Centenario and the 2017 Confederations cup.

Recognising the fact Sanchez will have a rest, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to all make the same point...
