In-form Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera looked happy to be back alongside midfield partner Paul Pogba after being left out of his side's 1-0 Europa League victory over Luhansk on Thursday.

The 27-year-old posed for a selfie alongside the French £89million man, who played all 90 minutes, and fellow Spaniard David de Gea as they returned to Carrington.

Herrera was impressive in the 4-1 victory against Leicester on Saturday, and will likely return when United host Stoke at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho 's men arguably missed the Spaniard in the engine room as they struggled past the Ukrainian side to gain their first points in the Europa League group stages.

De Gea also didn't feature against Luhansk and was replaced by Argentine international Sergio Romero, who Mourinho praised after the game.

"Romero is not an ordinary goalkeeper, he’s a very good goalkeeper, an Argentina international," Mourinho told BT Sport.

“He played last week in the League Cup, he plays today, he deserves that and to go home next week with these two games in his pocket.

“He knows that David is our first option but Romero – such a good keeper and an amazing guy – deserves to play.”

Spain No.1 De Gea is expected to return for the Stoke clash on Sunday.
