Daniel Sturridge is set to leave Liverpool in an attempt to win back his place in the England squad ahead of next year's World Cup in Russia.

The striker was one of the Premier League's deadliest marksmen when the Reds came desperately close to winning the title in 2014, but injuries have badly hampered his progress since and he has been an unused substitute in his side's last two matches.

Sturridge has failed to convince Reds boss Jurgen Klopp that he is the answer as the club look for a world class centre forward, and his lack of game time has forced him to accept that his time at Anfield could be up.

When fully fit Sturridge is still widely seen as one of the best finishers in the country though, and there will be no shortage of clubs vying for his signature when the transfer window reopens in January.

Here we look at five clubs who could be tempted to swoop for the 28-year-old...

West Ham

Sturridge was linked with a move to the London Stadium over the summer, and with the side currently in disarray boss David Moyes needs to do some serious business in January if he's to haul the Hammers out of relegation trouble.

With fans turning on Andy Carroll after his abject display in the 2-0 defeat to Watford on Sunday, a new striker is likely to be high on Moyes's shopping list and signing Sturridge with a point to prove and a World Cup squad place on the line would fit the bill perfectly.

Javier Hernandez has arguably been the pick of West Ham's disastrous summer recruitment, and with him and Sturridge on their books they would have two strikers capable of poaching goals in the box which is crucial among the sides battling to avoid the drop.

Whether the England forward would swap Champions League football for a relegation dogfight is another matter, but if he is willing to do to so to gain regular football then a move to East London would make sense for all parties.

Everton

The Toffees inexplicably failed to replace Romelu Lukaku over the summer, so will be in the market for at least one new striker come January.

Moving to the other side of Stanley Park would make Sturridge public enemy number one at Anfield, but if he wants to keep his World Cup dreams alive then a switch to Goodison Park could appeal to him.

The current managerial uncertainty at Everton will have been resolved by the time the window reopens, and with the likes of Marco Silva linked with the job Sturridge would surely be excited at the prospect of playing regularly under one of the most exciting young managers in the country.

It would also be the perfect way to get back at Klopp for all but forcing him to move on after five years at the club.

Crystal Palace

Much would again come down to whether Sturridge would be up for a relegation battle, but with Christian Benteke the Eagles' only fit recognised striker they could do with more options up front.

Roy Hodgson was a fan of Sturridge during his time as England manager, and would jump at the chance to work with him again at Selhurst Park as he looks to pull off one of the greatest escapes in Premier League history.

Wilfried Zaha has performed admirably having been deployed as a striker in recent weeks, but the prospect of the Ivory Coast international teeing up Sturridge would be one that would guarantee goals, an area which Palace have been desperately lacking in this season.

With the Eagles still rooted to the foot of the table a loan move could be more likely, but the extra minutes Sturridge would get would give him the opportunity to convince Gareth Southgate to book him a ticket to Russia next summer.

Newcastle

The Magpies have been largely impressive since their return to the top flight, but they are still shy in front of goal and that is a problem a fully fit Sturridge could be the answer to.

Summer signing Joselu and last season's top scorer Dwight Gayle have only managed three goals between them this campaign, and boss Rafa Benitez will be looking to strengthen his forward line in January.

With Newcastle not in any immediate relegation trouble, a switch to St James' Park to work under Benitez could be an ideal move for Sturridge to regain some form and force his way back into the World Cup reckoning.

Southampton

Liverpool have signed a number of the Saints' top players in recent years, but the roles could be reversed in January as boss Mauricio Pellegrino looks to solve his side's goal scoring problems.

Manolo Gabbiadini has failed to reproduce the form shown when he first moved to St Mary's last winter, so a prolific striker will be a priority for Pellegrino to ensure Southampton aren't nervously looking over their shoulders at the end of the season.

With the Reds reportedly lining up another swoop for skipper Virgil Van Dijk in January, Sturridge could even be used as part exchange with Van Dijk valued at around £70 million by the St Mary's hierarchy.
