Wayne Rooney is enjoying his return to boyhood club Everton - after netting his second goal in three appearances.

Striker Rooney arrived home to Goodison Park earlier this month on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United after 14 years.

He immediately made an impact for Ronald Koeman's side as he smashed in on his second debut with a 30-yard stunner.

And Rooney repeated the trick in the Toffees' 1-1 draw with Belgian side Genk.

The England legend tucked in the opener on the cusp of half time with a slide finish after fellow summer signing Sandro Ramirez had teed him up.

Rooney, who was playing on the left side of a 4-2-3-1 formation, had already gone close with a deft flick header, which was well saved by the keeper.

But the Toffees conceded to a sloppy second half goal as recruit from Southampton Cuco Martina's poor header dropped to Mbwana Samatta, who thumped in.

Everton remain unbeaten in pre-season having beaten Gor Mahia 2-1 and thrashed Twente 3-0.
