Chelsea enjoyed a Sunday stroll in the Stamford Bridge sun as they cruised to victory against Everton.

First half goals from Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata earned the champions all three points against Ronald Koeman's side.

And the champions will go into the international break after back-to-back league wins, having started the season with a shock home loss to Burnley.

There was little danger of a repeat or Everton claiming their first win at Stamford Bridge for 23 years.

Chelsea were on top from the off and it was no surprise when they eventually broke through in the 27 minute.

Willian played the ball back to Fabregas, who combined with his fellow Spaniard Morata, before steering a perfectly-placed effort into Jordan Pickford's bottom right-hand corner.

Five minutes before half time it was 2-0 when Morata got himself free in the box to head in Cesar Azpilicueta's inch-perfect cross from the right.

The only question on a comfortable afternoon appeared to be how many more Chelsea would score.

And despite creating good chances for Pedro, Victor Moses and Willian they settled on just the two and saw off the threat of a late Toffees rally to run out winners.

Chelsea 2-0 Everton stat attack

  • Chelsea have won eight of their last 11 Premier League meetings with Everton (W8 D1 L2).
  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 23 home Premier League games against Everton since a 0-1 loss in November 1994 (W13 D10). Only against Tottenham (25) are they on a longer unbeaten Premier League run at Stamford Bridge.
  • Everton have conceded 10 goals against Chelsea under Ronald Koeman, more than twice as many against any other opponent during his tenure at the club.
  • Alvaro Morata is the first player in Premier League history to both score & assist a goal in each of his first two home games.
  • Eight of Alvaro Morata’s 17 league goals since the start of 2016-17 have been headers (47%).
  • Morata has now had a hand in four goals in his two Premier League appearances at Stamford Bridge (two goals, two assists). In fact, both his goals have been scored with his head and both assists have been headed passes.
  • Cesc Fabregas has now scored five Premier League goals against Everton – only against Sunderland has he scored as many (also 5).
  • The Spanish midfielder has had a hand in 10 goals in his last nine Premier League appearances against Everton (five goals, five assists).
  • Everton had three touches in opposition box before the 85th minute in this match – in the final five minutes (and injury time) they had four.

PEEEEP

Chelsea stroll to a simple 2-0 victory.

Cesc Fabregas used the outside of his foot to take the lead.

Before Alvaro Morata headed in the second.

Europa League hand over for Everton.

Late sub

Time is ticking on Everton to find a way back into this one.

Christensen on for Moses.

The Nigerian has been solid on the wing.

Keeper banter

Mignolet has been rested by Liverpool.

And his international teammate Courtois hasn’t exactly been overworked by Everton today.

Chelsea in cruise control.

Second half action

Chelsea have been happy to sit on their two goal advantage in the second half.

All become a tad sluggish in all fairness.

Europa League appears to have taken it out on Everton’s players.

Chelsea are pushing for a third. We’re into the final 20 minutes now.

Alvaro Morata's goal

A decent start to life in the Premier League for Morata.

He has two goals and two assists in two and a half games.

Two fingers up to Real Madrid - not that they will care with their goal heavy side.

Cesc Fabregas' goal

Fabregas returned from his suspension to fire Chelsea into the lead.

Really classy finish on this, the picture below doesn’t do it justice.

It was not Charlie Daniel yesterday, but still the type of goal that would get a second date.

GOOAAAALL Chelsea 2-0 Everton (Morata)

All too easy for Chelsea this.

Azpilicueta crosses into the box, it is absolutely delicious.

And Morata nods in his second goal since signing from Real Madrid.

Europa League hang over for Ronald Koeman’s men?

GOOAAAALLL Chelsea 1-0 Everton (Fabregas)

It has been coming and Cesc Fabregas has broken the deadlock.

Good work on the right flank by Willian finds Alvaro Morata who battles hard to nod to Fabregas.

And the Spaniard uses the outside of his boot to curl into the bottom corner.

Lovely finish.

Early action

Chelsea have been on top so far but haven’t broken through.

Pedro’s overhead kick is the most interesting moment.

Plenty of time to go still.

Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney has been out warming up.

He is playing his first Premier League since retiring from international football.

Could be integral to Everton’s plans today.

Squad news

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas returns from suspension for the visit of Everton.

But defender Gary Cahill is still banned following his red card against Burnley on the opening day of the season.

Forward Eden Hazard is due to play for the club’s under-23s on Friday as he builds up his fitness following a broken ankle.

Everton have doubts over both Idrissa Gueye and Sandro Ramirez and will be without Davy Klaassen for their trip to Chelsea.

Gueye missed Thursday’s win over Hajduk Split as a precaution with a hamstring problem, while neither striker Sandro (heel) nor midfielder Klaassen (foot) played either, the latter having already been ruled out of a return at Stamford Bridge.

Boss Ronald Koeman’s midfield options are limited as Morgan Schneiderlin is suspended, with the Frenchman joining James McCarthy, Ramiro Funes Mori, Yannick Bolasie (all knee), Seamus Coleman (broken leg) and Ross Barkley (hamstring) on the sidelines.

Chelsea squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Kante, Fabregas, Pedro, Bakayoko, Moses, Willian, Batshuayi, Morata, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Christiansen, Kenedy, Tomori, Musonda, Boga, Remy, Scott.

Everton squad: Pickford, Stekelenburg, Martina, Keane, Williams, Jagielka, Baines, Gueye, Sigurdsson, Davies, Besic, Lennon, Rooney, Calvert-Lewin, Mirallas, Holgate, Lookman.

Welcome

Chelsea are looking forward to this one today, having put five goals past Everton in November in the corresponding fixture.

They’ve reminded fans of this in their matchday build-up with this highlights package of Eden Hazard carving the Toffees apart.

However, Ronald Koeman’s side looks might different now after his club’s summer spending spree.
