Mohamed Salah broke free to set up Roberto Firmino for the opening goal, and the pair combined in reverse shortly before the interval to double the visitors' lead.
And those first-half efforts proved enough for all three points on the south coast, as well as a timely boost ahead of the resumption of Champions League football.
