Last season's head-to-head:

Ben Woodburn enjoyed a night to remember when the sides met last season at the Emirates Stadium, the Welshman netting twice in a 3-1 win that also saw Toni Gomes score. The Reds won the return game at Anfield 3-2, with Harry Wilson netting twice and Sheyi Ojo also scoring.

View from the manager, Neil Critchley

"It was pleasing to maintain our unbeaten start to the season against Sunderland but, overall, I thought we made hard work of it for long periods, particularly in the first half.

"We were too slow and didn't play forward but in the second half we were much better and caused them problems.

"Matty Virtue scored twice and I thought he was outstanding when he came on and made a huge difference.

"Arsenal is a great game to look forward to. We know we will face top opposition with top players but we go into the game off the back of two victories and we are really looking forward to it."

View from the player, Rhian Brewster

"It was good to get my first goal of the season against Sunderland and hopefully I can push on and get a lot more now.

"It was frustrating getting injured at the start of pre-season but I just need more games now to get back to where I was last season.

"I want to get more goals than I did last season and get more assists for the team.

"When you come off the bench you just try to make a difference and I can't wait for Friday's game now.

"Hopefully I can get another goal and some more assists as well."
