ASHLEY Barnes is hoping to help do the Clarets £10.6million training ground justice by keeping Burnley in the Premier League this season.

After moving into the Barnfield Training Centre in March the Clarets spent the entire summer in their new home, with the finishing touches applied to the base while the squad were away on their summer break.

The development is a far cry from the portable cabins that the players got changed in when Barnes first arrived at Turf Moor, and the development has also given them new, high-quality pitches to train on.

Barnes is loving life in his new place of work, and admits the facilities deserve top flight football, something Burnley are hoping to achieve for a third season in a row next year.

“As a group of players, for the first month or so we were like ‘this is amazing’,” the 27-year-old said.

“You’ve got to take the importance of having a nice training ground into consideration.

“But our main focus is to get three points on Saturday.

“When that whistle blows you’ve got to go out to win no matter where you are or what you’ve got. As soon as that whistle goes you’ve got to be ready for the game.”

Barnes added: “The club is stepping forward. Everything is going in the right direction.

“Being here from when I was first here to seeing how it’s developed over the last few years, we’ve got a training ground with facilities second to none, and long may it continue.

“This place deserves to be in the Premier League and we need to stay in the Premier League. As a group of players we’re trying to work on that for everyone involved with the club.”

Barnes will face renewed competition for a starting place this season, despite seeing Andre Gray depart Turf Moor for £18million.

That cash was reinvested on record signing Chris Wood, who marked his first Premier League appearance with a goal against Tottenham at Wembley, and £5million deadline day addition Nakhi Wells from Huddersfield.

The pair have joined Barnes and Sam Vokes in Sean Dyche’s squad, and the former believes all four front men bring their own, unique qualities to the team.

“As a group this is the best bunch of lads you could work with,” Barnes added.

“The togetherness of us all is brilliant. We all know our jobs and we all get on with it.

“I think we all bring something different to the table.”
