The majority of the transfer attention today is on Merseyside with the imminent arrival of Mario Balotelli, but other Premier League sides are lining up big-money moves.

Louis van Gaal continues to be linked to a whole host of players and it appears that Sami Khedira could now be a primary target. Real Madrid team-mate Angel Di Maria is still the subject of a £50m deal, but the German World Cup winner is also thought to be part of the deal (The Daily Mirror).

The central midfielder has been linked with a move to London all summer with Chelsea and Arsenal leading the chase, but van Gaal is desperate to add quality reinforcements.

Danny Welbeck has been told he can leave the club and a lot of activity is expected at Old Trafford before the close of the window in less than two weeks.

Spurs are poised to do what Liverpool came so close to doing earlier in the summer, and that is sign QPR striker Loic Remy. The French striker may cost up to £10m (The Daily Star), while Sevilla's Federico Fazio is alos on the White Hart Lane wanted list according to The Daily Mail.

PSG and Monaco are willing to take Petr Cech on loan for a year if that is Chelsea's preferred option (The Daily Mail) while The Times reports that West Ham defender Winston Reid is being watched by Arsenal, although there has been no official bid.
