Man United could be about to make a new blockbuster bid to lure Real Madrid star Gareth Bale to Old Trafford, according to reports.

Bale was a world record signing for the European champions in 2013 but looks set to slip down the pecking order at the Bernabeu if Madrid's transfer for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe goes through.

The Telegraph is reporting that Real Madrid may have to raise funds to finance a record deal for the French teenager, with manager Zinedine Zidane today admitting that there is a possibility that one of his star players could leave during the transfer window.

"I hope the BBC stay for this season. I hope everyone remains. I want everyone who is here now to stay...but anything can happen right up until August 31," he said.

Man United are currently in talks with Inter Milan for winger Ivan Perisic and with Chelsea for midfielder Nemanja Matic, but Zidane's latest comments could spark Old Trafford chiefs into tabling a big offer for the Welsh star.

Real Madrid boss Zidane was also quizzed about his side's interest in Mbappe, which could impact Bale's availability.

"I'm the coach, you need to speak with someone else about whether or not it is worth it," he added. "Nothing has happened till now, we have the squad we have."
