Alexandre Lacazette is attracting interest around Europe
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger appears to have failed in his attempts to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to a report from Sky Sports.
Lacazette appeared to be closing in on a move to Arsenal last week, with the Gunners believed to be close to agreeing a close record fee to sign the 26-year-old striker.
Lyon hinted they would be prepared to allow Lacazette to leave this summer after he confirmed he had asked to make a move, yet they insisted he would only be allowed to leave once they had signed a replacement.
Talks to sign Arsenal's Olivier Giroud appear to have come to nothing and with Lyon demanding a fee of around €60m, it appears that Lacazette's move to north London has stalled for now.
This will be a second aborted move of the summer for the French striker, who had agreed to join Atletico Madrid as a replacement for Antoine Griezmann.
Yet Atletico's failure to get their transfer embargo lifted ended that possible move, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas now confident his star man will stay at the club for another year.
"I do not think that Alexandre Lacazette will leave this summer," confirmed Aulas, amid suggestions he will only allow the move to go through if Giroud moves in the opposite direction.
"I do not have anything to say about Olivier Giroud. We're interested. Things haven't advanced," he added.
Meanwhile, Arsenal also appear to have come up short in their efforts to sign Monaco star Lemar, amid reports that a €35m bid from the Gunners has been rejected.
Arsenal are expected to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer and are keen to replace their biggest name with a sprinkling of fresh talent ahead of the new season.
Even though the Gunners appear to be active in the transfer market, their efforts to bring in Wenger's top targets are coming up short for now.
