There are conflicting reports over Newcastle United's move for Alexandre Lacazette, with suggestions a deal could still be completed today.

The Lyon striker has been linked with a move to St James' Park where the Magpies look short on attacking options.

The Ligue 1 side were understood to have rejected a bid for the 23-year-old, however there are counter claims that Lyon are simply looking for the best possible price.

Alan Pardew, who claims to be happy with his current squad, has also been linked with Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgian defender is understood to be unwanted at Atletico Madrid where he is yet to even feature on the bench this season, prompting expectations that he will switch club before the window closes. The Magpies have been touted as a possible destination with Southampton also in the mix.

Another defender linked with Newcastle is Matija Nastasic.

The Manchester City defender has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad and could be available on a loan deal. The 21-year-old has been linked with numerous clubs, including West Ham, Everton and Arsenal.
