Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United feature in Football 4Cast

Everton v Crystal Palace

Jim: Palace should have beaten Newcastle at the weekend but they’re nursing plenty of injuries too. Everton have been inconsistent at best recently so opting for a score draw between them seems sensible, especially as three of the last four head-to-head meetings have finished all square.

Theo Walcott netted both goals in the 2-1 win over Leicester City and the former Arsenal man looks to have settled in at Goodison Park so he’s the scorer pick for this one.

Prediction: Everton 1-1 Crystal Palace

Oliver: Everton are surprisingly good at Goodison Park, having won 16 of their 23 Premier League matches there since the start of 2017. Palace, though, have lost just once away from Selhurst Park in their last seven in the league, and have not tasted defeat in the blue half of Merseyside in any of their last four visits.

Neither team has had much luck in front of goal this season, netting just 53 times between them in their 52 matches, but Luka Milivojevic has scored five in his last 10 and will likely be on penalty duty.

Manchester City v Leicester City

Jim: Manchester City will have appreciated a full week to recover from what has been a hectic schedule of late and should have enough to see off Claude Puel’s men. The runaway leaders have netted 17 goals in their last five league games at the Etihad and the Foxes might be powerless to stop them racking up several more.

Sergio Aguero will be a popular play for 4Cast entries while Gabriel Jesus is side-lined but with good reason. Nine of his 17 league goals this term have come in the last 10 games and he should be on target again here.

Oliver: Everyone knows the Man City story this season, and with 12 consecutive league wins at the Etihad Stadium, it’s hard to see anything other than a home victory.

Leicester will certainly fancy themselves to get on the scoresheet, having done so in all but one of their last nine outside the King Power, with Jamie Vardy the likely culprit given his penchant for scoring against the ‘big six’ (22 goals in Premier League 42 games).

Newcastle United v Manchester United

Jim: Five games without a win in all competitions doesn’t bode well for Rafael Benitez’s men but they’re likely to take a safety-first approach for the visit of Manchester United. The visitors should be able to collect maximum points but it’s unlikely to be pretty, so a narrow away win appeals.

Alexis Sanchez was on target in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield and if he’s going to be on penalty duties then the January signing is a solid candidate for an anytime scorer selection.

Oliver: Eight Premier League games without a win at St James’ Park does not make happy reading for the Newcastle faithful, and neither does the fixture list as they welcome Manchester United to town.

The Red Devils have not lost at this ground since 2012, and have claimed 16 points out of the last available 21 away from Old Trafford.

For a goalscorer, Romelu Lukaku has bagged four goals in his last six and perhaps more importantly, has six strikes in just eight starts in his Premier Legaue career against this opposition.

Southampton v Liverpool

Jim: Both teams have scored in Southampton’s last five Premier League games and Sunday’s final top-flight clash could provide plenty more entertainment. Jurgen Klopp does have a midweek Champions League clash to prepare for so a high-scoring draw could be on the cards in this one.

It’s difficult to look past Mo Salah as far as a goalscorer goes, the Egypt international is right on Harry Kane’s heels in the top scorer race and could be too hot to handle for the Saints.

Prediction: Southampton 2-2 Liverpool

Oliver: Liverpool are averaging 1.85 points per away game this term, their highest since the 2008/09 season, aided by six wins in their last eight outside of Anfield.

Southampton are fighting for survival and have a torrid record against the ‘big six’, with seven draws and 13 losses in their last 20 league matches against such opposition.

This is likely to be a high-scorer as the Reds have conceded 22 away goals in their 13 matches, whilst the Saints’ 16 goals at home is the second-highest outside of the top seven. For a goalscorer, there can only be one man…
