Chelsea v Brighton and Hove Albion Betting Preview: Latest odds, team news, tips and predictions

Chelsea can make an immediate return to winning ways when they welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.

Despite a dominant display on Merseyside, Antonio Conte's charges were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in a goalless draw against Everton and three points will be the target against Chris Hughton's Seagulls.

Chelsea have been strong on home soil so far this season and, in fact, the defending Premier League champions have won seven of their last eight matches in west London and Conte's men are strong favourites at just 1/6 (1.17) with Paddy Power to pick up all three points against Hughton's side.

Brighton have suffered an alarming dip in form in recent weeks, although they did enjoy a vital win against Watford at the weekend - a first triumph in eight matches.

Hughton's men, however, have not scored in any of their last three games on their travels and it would take a significant shift in fortunes for Brighton to make it back-to-back victories with a win in this one. Paddy Power offer 14/1 (15.0) that the Seagulls claim a famous win at Stamford Bridge, while the same firm go 11/2 (6.50) that these two teams settle for a point apiece.

Chelsea to keep a clean sheet?

The Seagulls have desperately lacked cutting edge in recent weeks and there is every chance that the visitors may struggle to make much of an impact against the Premier League champions.

Chelsea have kept a clean sheet in five of their last seven victories in this competition, while the Blues have leaked just four goals in their last 10 Premier League games. Paddy Power go 8/15 (1.53) that Conte's charges keep the visitors at bay, while the same firm go 4/6 (1.67) that the Blues win without conceding.

That particular play would have landed in three of Chelsea's last four home wins and may well prove to be popular with punters.

Tips and Predictions

Chelsea have won by a single-goal margin in five of their last six matches on their own patch and Paddy Power go 13/5 (3.60) that the trend continues in this clash, but better value may lie in backing a low-scoring clash when these rivals meet.

Brighton have failed to find the net in seven of their 10 away matches in all competitions so far this season and they could well come up short once again here, while the Blues have scored more than once in just one of their last four home games in the Premier League.

Indeed, three of those matches ended in a 1-0 win for Chelsea and, so, Paddy Power's 6/5 (2.20) quote for fewer than three goals to be scored could well prove to be popular with punters.
