Betting: Swansea and Palace favourites for Premier League relegation after impressive starts from the newly-promoted teams

With the newly-promoted sides exceeding expectations so far, it is some of the Premier League’s more established names who are looking most in danger of relegation after 11 games.

Although bottom with just four points to their name, slight signs of improvement since Roy Hodgson’s appointment mean Crystal Palace are no longer favourites for the drop.

While the Eagles are priced at 4/6 (1.67) to go down with dabblebet, Swansea City are on offer at slightly narrower 8/13 (1.62) despite having four extra points to their name going into the international break.

Having lost five of their last six league games, Paul Clement’s team are now the front runners to succumb to a relegation that they only avoided last campaign thanks to a run of four wins and a draw in their final five matches.

The Swans’ only victory in their last six fixtures came in mid-October against Huddersfield Town, who are now available at 2/1 (3.00) after picking up 15 points from the opening 11 games of their debut Premier League season to sit impressively in 10th place.

Riding high in eighth and 11th themselves, fellow promoted sides Brighton and Newcastle are on offer at 7/2 (4.50) and 8/1 (9.00) respectively to return to the Championship after just one season.

This overachievement from the new boys has put more pressure on some of the division’s more long-standing members, with West Ham looking particularly in danger; third from bottom after a 4-1 thrashing at home to Liverpool, the East Londoners opted to sack Slaven Bilic on Monday and are now 9/4 (3.25) shots to suffer a first relegation since 2011.

Similarly, West Bromwich Albion 5/2 (3.50) are looking increasingly in peril after suffering their third consecutive defeat away at Huddersfield, having failed to win a single game since opening the season with two consecutive victories.

Although a point adrift of the Baggies, two wins from their last three matches puts Bournemouth 3/1 (4.00) in slightly better shape in terms of form, while Stoke City 7/1 (8.00) are also showing signs of improvement after a worrying start to the campaign.
