Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger admits Gunners ARE considering selling Mesut Ozil in January

ARSENE WENGER has revealed Arsenal could sell Mesut Ozil in January.

Ozil's current contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season and there have been no developments in the German signing a new deal as of yet.

That has led to speculation the midfielder could potentially leave the Emirates either in January or the summer.

But with Arsenal reluctant to let him leave for free at the end of the campaign, Wenger admits they could cash in on him in the New Year.

On the possibilty of Arsenal selling Ozil, Wenger said: "We have envisaged every solution, it is possible we might sell in January."

News of Arsenal considering selling Ozil in January will be welcomed at Manchester United.

Reports suggest Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the 28-year-old to Old Trafford in the winter window

Mourinho worked with Ozil at Real Madrid and would be confident of convincing the Germany international to make the move to the north west.

Alexis Sanchez is in the same situation as Ozil with his contract also expiring in the summer.

And while Arsene Wenger is hopeful the talented duo extend their stays, he admits there hasn’t been any progress in negotiations.

“I always said that the fact we didn’t sign an agreement doesn’t mean that the player will leave," he said.

“Both players are happy here. I hope the situation can be turned around.

“At the moment we are not close enough to announce anything.”
