The Toffees were booed off the pitch after being beaten 1-0 at home by Burnley this weekend.

They have now lost four of their last five Premier League matches and sit just two points above the relegation zone.

Having seen Koeman spend £150million to rebuild his squad over the summer, some fans are calling for him to be axed already.

But the club’s majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, has told talkSPORT’s Jim White that the Dutchman retains his support.

Moshiri said: “We are in a bad moment, but we have played the four title contenders – three of them away. Burnley was the only unexpected loss.

“The four pre-qualifying UEFA [Europa League] and two group games on Thursday's haven't helped.

“There is mental and physical fatigue and seven injuries.

“These are early days and Koeman has my total support.

“We have great fans and they deserve better.

“We know the expectations by our honest and objective fans and we will not let them down.”

The failure to replace deadly striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer has cost Everton.

The club have scored only four Premier League goals this season – three fewer than the Belgium international has managed for Manchester United.

Oumar Niasse cost the Merseysiders £13.5m, but he was not even given a club suit to wear this season.

But the Senegal international provided one of Everton’s few positive moments this season, when his two goals saw his side come from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1.
