Man Utd news: Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez tells David de Gea not to sign new deal

REAL MADRID are doing everything they can to ensure they don’t miss out on signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

Why David de Gea is one of 'the best goalkeepers around'

Los Blancos have tried to sign the Spaniard numerous times but their latest offers in the summer were swiftly rejected by United.

The Red Devils and Jose Mourinho are determined to keep hold of David de Gea at the end of the campaign but know they face another window of uncertainty with Madrid chief Florentino Perez desperate to get his man.

De Gea’s current contract runs out in 2019 but United are looking to tie him down to a longer deal amid interest from Madrid.

However, Spanish publication Diario Gol claim news of this has reached Perez and he has intervened.

They say Perez has contacted De Gea and told him to stall on signing a new contract so Madrid can complete his signing easier.

De Gea is in no rush to commit to a new deal with the Red Devils as he knows a good display in the World Cup next year will see his value soar.

Perez is willing to meet De Gea’s wage demands if the shot-stopper puts off signing a new deal.

Despite ongoing speculation over his future De Gea admitted earlier this month he is settled in Manchester.

“To be fair, when you are really young, you don’t think about the future too much, you just want to play with your friends,” De Gea said.

"When you get older, you start to dream about being there, about being at a top team, so of course it’s a dream to be at a team like Manchester United."
