Jurgen Klopp saw his side drop points against Spartak Moscow
Those are the thoughts of Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.
Liverpool’s back four has been scrutinised on numerous occasions this term, and have already concede 11 goals in the Premier League - more than any of the top 10.
Last night, it was a case of the Reds fluffing their lines up front, missing a hatful of chances as they were held to a 1-1 draw in the Champions League away to Spartak Moscow.
And Merson has compared Liverpool’s situation to that of Barcelona, who missed out on the La Liga title last term.

“Liverpool will not win the league with the defence they have,” Merson told Sky Sports’ Debate Show.
“If you look at Barcelona for example, they had the best three forwards in the world of football last year in Neymar, Suarez and Messi.
“What did they win? They never won the league, they never won the European Cup.”
Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, was able to take some positives out of last night’s draw against Spartak despite more dropped points in Europe.

He said: “We know now more about two teams in the group and both games we could have, or should have, won but we didn’t.
“In the end that’s always our fault, but we will carry on and carry on like this, or even better.
“I saw a lot of good things tonight, it was not a perfect game, but there were a lot of good things.”
