Kevin Kilbane fears for Liverpool's Champions League chances

Liverpool secured their place in this season’s Champions League with a convincing 6-3 aggregate win over Hoffenheim in the play-offs.

But the Reds failed to impress in their opening Group E clash, drawing 2-2 with Sevilla at Anfield.

While remaining Premier League sides Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea all got off to winning starts in their respective groups.

And Kilbane believes the Reds’ poor start could cost them a place in the knock-out rounds.

Liverpool don’t give you much optimism

Kevin Kilbane

"I think all the English sides have a great chance of progressing from the group stages,” Kilbane told BoyleSports.

"Liverpool, from the way they’ve started, maybe don’t give you much optimism.

"Celtic also have their work cut out and I don’t think they’ll do it, with PSG and Bayern Munich in their group.

Jamie Carragher laments Liverpool's inability to "kill off" games

"Tottenham beating Borussia Dortmund in their opening game gives them a great chance in a very tough group.

"Chelsea have a good chance, given how their side is set up.

"Liverpool is the only Premier League side I’d be worried about, due to their defensive problems."

Jurgen Klopp’s side are back in action tonight at Spartak Moscow, who drew 1-1 in their opening game against Maribor.
