That is the opinion of pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.

Luiz was given his marching orders in the final 10 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian went over the top of the ball in a tackle with left wing-back Sead Kolasinac and referee Michael Oliver had no hesitation in sending him off.

Conte was not happy at the time of the decision, with the incident happening just in front of the Chelsea dugout.

Burley admits Antonio Conte probably had a better view of the tackle but says he should not be defending his player.

“No idea (why Conte is complaining),” Burley said on ESPN FC.

“That’s a good point, yeah (he had a better angle than the referee). 

“Why does a manager rarely see what everybody else can see?

“There was nothing to argue about was there? It was absolutely stupid. 

“By the way he waited on it, he could have got there before that.”

Luiz will sit out of the next three domestic games for Chelsea.

He will miss the Carabao Cup match against Nottingham Forest tomorrow (7.45pm) and games against Stoke and Manchester City in the Premier League.
