HECTOR BELLERIN has rapidly declined at Arsenal in recent years.

That is the view of former Sunderland defensive midfielder turned pundit Kevin Kilbane. 

Bellerin, 21, burst onto the scene for Arsenal during the 2013/14 season and went onto be named in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2015/16 campaign. 

But the Spain international has struggled under Arsene Wenger in the last 12 months. 

He was heavily linked with a return to Barcelona, with the La Liga champions keen to find a long-term replacement for Dani Alves.

However, Bellerin ended up staying at 

The right-back has played every minute of Arsenal’s opening four Premier league games this season.

But Kilbane reckons his ‘incredible’ decline is worrying and he doubts whether he is even good enough to get into the north London side’s starting XI anymore. 

“Hector Bellerin has gone from being one of the best right-backs in football to almost now thinking he’s not good enough to get in the Arsenal side,” Kilbane told Irish radio station Newstalk.

“It’s incredible the decline in Bellerin.”

Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0 at the Emirates on Saturday to push themselves up to 11th in the table. 

Up next for the Gunners is a Europa League clash with FC Koln on Thursday (8:05pm).
