Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal on deadline day.

The midfielder was close to joining Chelsea, but he ended up getting a cold feet and snubbed Antonio Conte.

Also, Oxlade-Chamberlain took a significant pay cut after rejecting a new deal worth £180,000 a week with the Gunners.

But the Mirror’s football writer Lewis thinks the England international should be getting more credit for his transfer.

“He’s had a lot of criticism for turning down the champions,” Lewis told Sky Sports’ The Sunday Supplement.

“Hopefully he’ll make a success of it rather than go to the club who are the champions and play in a position he’s not comfortable with.

“He will go to Liverpool and show the fight and ambition you want from an England player.”
