Manchester United released Ibrahimovic after the former Sweden international sustained a serious knee injury back in April.

It was expected to rule him out until the New Year and many thought they had seen the last of the 35-year-old in English football.

However, Express Sport understands the Red Devils are set to re-sign the veteran after being left amazed by his swift recovery.

A new contract is expected to be announced this week with Ibrahimovic then likely to play second fiddle to the club’s new signing, Romelu Lukaku.

And The Sun say Ibrahimovic has earmarked the club’s game with Tottenham as his comeback date.

He has supposedly told friends that he is fully recovered from his injury and will undertake ball training in the next few weeks.

They add that the striker was recently told to calm down his comeback in order to ensure he does not aggravate his knee problem.

But United chiefs are said to be relaxed after photos emerged of him diving off a luxury yacht in St Tropez.
