No Rooney regrets

15:43: Jose Mourinho will have no regrets over selling Wayne Rooney - despite watching him score against rivals Manchester City.

Mourinho claimed it was emotional allowing Rooney to leave Manchester United for boyhood club Everton this summer.

And The Red Devils boss was in attendance at the Etihad last night to see Rooney put Everton in front against City, only for Raheem Sterling to grab a draw.

But the Manchester Evening News say Mourinho will not have felt any regret at his decision to offload United's record goalscorer.

Rose showdown talks

13:30: Danny Rose will hold talks with Tottenham this week about his future.

The Independent says Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will make his position clear when he meets with Rose’s agent on Wednesday amid interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

It is claimed Spurs would want at least £54million for Rose, which is the same fee they received for Kyle Walker when he was sold to Manchester City.

Ibra could play with Rom - Goater

12.25: Manchester United could field both Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their starting XI this season, according to pundit Shaun Goater.

Goater expects Ibrahimovic, who is set to re-sign on a short-term deal, to start off as backup to the £75million summer signing from Everton.

But reckons Lukaku will complement Ibrahimovic’s style of play and can see them both starting up top under Jose Mourinho.

“I think he will be more as a backup and I think there will be games they could play together,” Goater said on Sky Sports.

“At the end of the day they’re quality players, Lukaku possesses the pace you require when you play with Zlatan.”

Ezequiel Garay scouted

10:45: Manchester United sent three of their top scouts to watch Valencia defender Ezequiel Garay.

Valencia-based outlet Super Deporte claim United’s chief Spanish scout Carlos Ruiz, Javier Ribalta, who is United’s top scout and another representative looked at Garay as he played on Friday night against Las Palmas.

United have already signed one defender in Victor Lindelof this summer.

Perisic deal over

10.15: Manchester United’s hopes of signing Ivan Perisic are over as the winger is reportedly set to sign a new deal with Inter Milan.

Italian outlet TransferMarketWeb claim Perisic has been handed a contract worth £96,000 a week - making him the highest paid player at Inter.

And he is reportedly prepared to sign on the dotted line, pledging his services to the Serie A club long term.

Ibrahimovic No 10

08.40: Zlatan Ibrahimovic will reportedly wear the No 10 for Manchester United this season.

The Swede has been linked with a return to United after proving his fitness after a long-term knee injury suffered in last season's Europa League.

Jose Mourinho has admitted he is keen to bring the experienced striker back to Old Trafford.

And United sponsors Adidas seemed to have jumped the gun by putting Ibrahimovic No 10 shirts for sale on their American website.

Martial enquiry

7:00: Monaco have made an enquiry about former striker Anthony Martial, according to French journalist Loic Tanzi.

Martial struggled last season but has scored in both of Manchester United’s two fixtures so far.

On Twitter, RMC and SFR reporter Tanzi revealed: "Monaco have enquired about Diego Costa, A. Martial and Alexis Sanchez.

"The search for a striker leads to talks with [Kasper] Dolberg."

Dele Alli agent split

05:30: Dele Alli is reportedly in the process of changing agents could cast doubt over his long-term future at Tottenham.

Tottenham are desperate to keep hold of their prized assets, although they let Kyle Walker join Manchester City earlier this summer.

Alli currently earns around £60,000-a-week and there is a wage ceiling at Spurs.

And now according to the Daily Mail, Alli’s split from his current agent Rob Segal could put Europe’s top clubs on alert.

The Mail add Alli is aware he can earn around £200,000-a-week elsewhere and Manchester United and Chelsea will look to sign him.

Antoine Griezmann update

04:00: Manchester United could try to sign Antoine Griezmann again next year, according to Guillem Balague.

The Atletico Madrid star was linked to United at the start of the summer before penning a new long-term deal with the La Liga outfit.

And when asked about his chances of heading to Old Trafford in the future, Spanish football expert Balague said: “This summer it's impossible but next summer, who knows?

“Quite clearly, he was determined to go to Manchester United and it's just the fact he didn't want to let Atletico Madrid down while they couldn't sign anyone that made him decide to stay.

“He had made his mind up to go to Old Trafford though, so we will see what happens as 12 months is a long time.”

Yazici scouted by Stonehouse

02:15: Manchester United reportedly sent scout Kevin Stonehouse to watch Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yazici.

The 20-year-old has been dubbed the new Mesut Ozil by his fans and is one of Turkey’s brightest young talents.

Liverpool and Everton cast their over him last week, but Turkish outlet Fotomac claim United have now entered the race to sign him.

It is said Stonehouse was impressed with the player’s “football intelligence” after watching him in action against Fenerbahce on Saturday.

"The search for a striker leads to talks with [Kasper] Dolberg."

Man Utd want McGuane

22:20: Juventus and Manchester United want to sign Arsenal youngster Marcus McGuane, according to reports.

McGuane is one of the best young talents in Arsenal's academy.

But the 18-year-old is in the last year of his contract.

The Independent claim Juventus, Manchester United, Manchester City and Napoli are all monitoring the player's situation.

A number of Championship sides are also eyeing McGuane and would be more likely to offer him Championship football.

Arsenal would earn compensation if they lose McGuane at the end of the season in a free transfer.

Bale deal possible - Keys

17:45: Gareth Bale could sign for Manchester United in the next 10 days, according to Richard Keys.

Writing in his personal blog, Keys said: “Finally, to address an issue I keep getting asked about - Bale to United.

“Transfers aren't a perfect science - but whilst the window remains open that deal has still got a chance and so have the others that there's been so much speculation about.

“I believe we're going to see some really big money spent before the end of August, but exactly where is difficult to be certain about.

“Just watch this space…”

Zlatan will affect Lukaku's role - Pearce

17:05: Manchester United re-signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic will affect the amount of games Romelu Lukaku starts this season, according to pundit Stuart Pearce.

“A good alternative (to Lukaku),” Pearce said on Sky Sports of Ibrahimovic.

“Whether he will play them both together or divvy them up a little bit and play one one week and one the next a little bit, for certain games.

“The thing is they’ve got Champions League football this year, they’ve got some real big high profile matches.

“Certainly Mourinho prioritises every piece of silverware he can get his hands on, whether it be the EFL Cup, whatever it is.”

Spurs wary of United swoop

16:00: Tottenham are concerned that Premier League rivals Manchester United will enter the battle to sign Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon.

Sky Sports claim Sessegnon, 17, could leave Craven Cottage providing someone offers a colossal fee for his services.

It’s believed any deal for the attacking left-back would see him loaned back to Fulham to continue his development.

Spurs saw a £25million bid rejected earlier this summer, and the emergence of Jose Mourinho’s side has the North London club worried.

Ibrahimovic willing to take a pay cut

15:30: Zlatan Ibrahimovic is prepared to take a pay cut to rejoin Manchester United.

The 35-year-old was released at the end of last season, but appears to be edging closer to an Old Trafford return.

And, in order to ensure he gets his wish, Ibrahimovic is ready to take a cut on the £367,000 he earned last term.

Pereira to Valencia

14:00: Andreas Pereira could be about to join Valencia.

Sport Witness say Manchester United are in talks with the Spanish giants over a loan deal.

However, the decision may boil down to whether or not Jose Mourinho sees the 21-year-old as part of his plans for this season.

Real line up De Gea

13:00: Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has reportedly been told he will be sold next summer to make way for Manchester United's David de Gea.

Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Real president Florentino Perez has told current No 1 Navas he will be leaving the club next June.

De Gea is said to have turned down a move to Real this term because he felt Navas was in his way and he did not want to compete to be No 1.

And Perez reportedly reluctantly agreed to end his pursuit of De Gea but has made it his mission to move the Costa Rica international on at the end of the season.

Martial's future

12:00: Jose Mourinho admits he spoke to Anthony Martial about his future this summer.

Martial’s position at United was uncertain with Mourinho tracking a winger to add to his three summer deals.

And Martial was touted as a make-weight in a deal to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.

But Mourinho says Martial is now in a good place.

"We had a conversation about the future he has here and I think he has a good connection on the pitch with Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku," Mourinho said.

"I think he is growing in confidence and to have two periods of 20 minutes and score two goals is good for that.

"Of course he wants to play, start for us, be selected for the national team and go to the World Cup. That's good and for me, it's simple: I cannot play Premier League, Champions League and cups with 11 players. I need a squad.

"He is working really well and maybe the little French language group we have with Paul, Romelu and Marouane Fellaini is helping him. He is very well integrated now. They bring him up and his level has improved."

Three-way Draxler battle

09:30: Julian Draxler has a number of Premier League clubs after him with Arsenal leading the pack for his signature.

He has been told by Paris Saint-Germain he is surplus to requirements and Italian outlet Transfermarketweb claim Arsenal are ahead of the pack after making an approach to sign him.

It is claimed both Manchester United and Liverpool are also considering making an offer for the Germany international.

Martial advice from Mourinho

23:00: Jose Mourinho has told Marcus Rashford he needs to develop thick skin as he continues his meteoric rise at Manchester United.

Rashford is still only 19 years old but has established himself as one of the most exciting strikers in the Premier League.

His talents have made him a target for top flight defenders who try to knock him off his game, and Mourinho has given some advice to the England international.

“I think he has to learn how to enjoy it. If he was a bad player, nobody would try to provoke him. They see the speed, they see the danger, probably they think they can affect him," Mourinho said.

“Honestly, I think if he was on the bench and if he comes [on] for the last 15 or 20 minutes when the space is there, I think he would do the same as the other guys did. So, I think he just has to adapt to it.”

New Ibrahimovic deal

17:01: Zlatan Ibrahimovic will reportedly re-sign at Manchester United next week.

Ibrahimovic is currently a free agent after he was released by Manchester United after just one season at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old striker joined the Red Devils last summer and finished as the club's top goalscorer but picked up a lengthy knee injury in April.

The former Sweden captain has been heavily linked with a return to United once he's fully fit - and ESPN claim he could put pen to paper on a new deal as early as this week.

Jose talks transfers

16:30:Manchester United won’t be selling anymore players this summer, says Jose Mourinho.

When asked if anymore could be shipped out the Portuguese boss insisted nobody will be leaving.

“The players that I have in the squad nobody is in doubt. We are very very objective with them,” he said.

“We are very face to face so the players are not in this risk of maybe my manager in the last day of the market is going to say that he doesn't want me. No. Everybody here knows the situation well.

“Even Tim Fosu Mensah (who was loaned out to Crystal Palace for the season before the campaign kicked off), we accept to do it before the first match of the season. So we are in a stable situation.”

Jose needs two more - Gerrard

15.45: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho must strengthen his defence before the transfer window shuts on August 31, says Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard believes they do have a squad capable of winning the league but reckons a new left-back and central defender are needed.

“I think they’ve got the squad compete for the title now,” Gerrard said on Sky Sports.

“But it can improve in certain areas. I still think they need a top-class left-back.

“I’m still not sure the centre half partnership is one of a (Rio) Ferdinand and (Nemanja) Vidic.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic update

15:11: Manchester United are growing increasingly confident of re-signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic is continuing his rehab following a knee injury in April.

He is without a club and AC Milan want to sign him.

But the Mail on Sunday claim the striker remains a target of United, who will supposedly offer him a new deal to start up in January.

Spalletti talks Perisic

13:02: Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti is confident they will keep hold of Ivan Perisic amid interest from Manchester United - although admits the winger did have concerns about committing his future to the club.

Spalletti says: “Since the start, the club spoke with Ivan, as did I, he came and told us some things, because you need specific characteristics to stay here. We must all be ready to listen to how everyone else sees things.

“Perisic is a great player, in the vein of Giacinto Facchetti, Javier Zanetti and Marco Materazzi, a leader who gives something more than an individual usually does. After this initial discussion, I never had any more signals of a departure, in training or outside of it.

“Ivan is someone who has his own training schedule after the session is finished, working in the gym, and is one of the most professional players I've met. He does something that only those who have a real sentiment for the club will do, because he never holds back and works so hard for the team.

“Perisic is not just in the Inter project, he is one of those we need to follow and who will set the path we are moving towards.”

Butland would "deal with" move

12.30: Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland admits he would have to “deal with” a move to Manchester United if the opportunity ever came around.

Butland was asked on BT Sport last night: “How do you fancy replacing David de Gea if he was to leave Manchester United?”

He responded: “No, no (I don’t want to answer that on live TV).

“Like I said I’m really happy here and if that opportunity ever came round it’s something you’ve got to deal with at the time.”

Mourinho praised for business

12:04: John Hartson says Manchester United have got their transfer deals spot on this summer.

"The additions that they've been have been very good. Lukaku is a centre-forward who will get you goals.

"He's got over 20 goals in his past three seasons, is a player that Mourinho knows very well from their time together at Chelsea.

"Matic is magnificent. What he does is sit and be disciplined in front of the back four and that will allow Pogba to go and play and express himself.”

Draxler bid planned

10:30:Manchester United are one of three clubs preparing a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Julian Draxler.

The Germany international is thought to be on the market this summer and the Mirror claim United, along with Arsenal and Liverpool are all preparing bids.

Draxler joined PSG in January from Wolfsburg for £40m and the Mirror say he is now available for just £32m, with the club willing to accept a small loss on the player.

Man Utd eye Varane

09:58: Manchester United want to sign Raphael Varane before the summer is out.

United manager Jose Mourinho wants at least one more player added to his squad.

The Red Devils have tried to sign Gareth Bale this summer but Real Madrid refused to consider the sale.

But Spanish outlet Don Balon claim United still want one of the Bernabeu club’s big stars.

According to the report, United are considering an offer for defender Varane.

However, the bid would have to be a huge one to convince Real to sell up.

Perisic offer on table

09:00: Manchester United have not given up on their pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.

The Daily Mirror claim the Red Devils still have an offer of £39million on the table.

Inter still value the Croatia international at around £48m.

But United are confident of a completing a deal before the deadline shuts and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is understood to have met Perisic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, in recent days to try to push through a deal.
