Chelsea's summer spending spree has seen Tiemoue Bakayoko, Alvaro Morata, Willy Caballero (free) and Antonio Rudiger all arrive in west London.

But the Italian has sent out several youngsters on loan and sold the likes of Nathan Ake, Nathaniel Chalobah and Nemanja Matic.

And when asked about the depth of his squad ahead of Chelsea's game with Tottenham on Sunday (4pm), Conte put his concerns down to fear of injuries rather than a lack of transfer activity.

"I am concerned, but only am I worried when you try to put the players very soon, the risk to have an injury is very high. That is my worry," he said.

"The physical condition might not be 100 per cent and we have to take some risks.

"I have to continue with my players, to try to improve the team.

"Then at the end of the transfer market I will be very happy."

Chelsea started their defence of the title disastrously last weekend as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Headlines in the papers surrounding Chelsea have since been dominated by Diego Costa's impending exit and Conte's frustrations with the board over signings.

But the 48-year-old has told fans everyone at the club is doing their best to get back to winning ways.

"I can tell the only thing that we are working very hard to try to do the best for the club.

"Football is not good to try to create the illusion.

"The only words thought that I can tell our fans is that we are working very hard for the players to have a good season.

"You know very well there are situations that you can’t control."
