Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona: Liverpool ace isn't unhappy but will leave - Hasselbaink

PHILIPPE COUTINHO will leave Liverpool for Barcelona this summer.

That's according to former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The Brazilian handed in a transfer request the day before Liverpool's Premier League season got underway against Watford on Friday night.

With Barca eager to replace Neymar before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month the Catalan giants have turned Coutinho's head.

However, Liverpool are adamant he won't be sold at any price.

And while Hasselbaink doesn't think Coutinho is necessarily unhappy on Merseyside, he feels it is too good an opportunity for him to turn down a move to the Nou Camp.

I see only one way and I think in the end he will go.

"I think that is one that's really difficult to solve," Hasselbaink said on Sky Sports.

"Liverpool is not the club anymore that it used to be.

"When one of the top four come in - Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United - it's very difficult to hold your player especially when that player is a Brazilian or South American player.

"They want to play for Barcelona and Real Madrid. It's going to be a big task for Liverpool to keep him.

Philippe Coutinho has been left out of Liverpool's trip to Hoffenheim

"I see only one way and I think in the end he will go.

"I don't think he is unhappy it's just the opportunity for his career to play at one of the biggest clubs at the moment."

Coutinho was left out of Liverpool's 3-3 defeat to Watford and has since not been named in their Champions League squad for their play-off clash with Hoffenheim tomorrow night (7.45pm).
