Chelsea look to hijack Manchester United's £27m move for Serge Aurier - report

CHELSEA are to make a late bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier from under the noses of Manchester United.

There are mixed reports linking Manchester United to right-back Aurier.

The Mirror claim United have agreed a £27million fee for the player, although Sky Sports suggest other targets are on Jose Mourinho's radar.

The defender cannot move to the Premier League until he gets approval from the UK authorities that he can work in the country after being arrested in France last year.

And French outlet Le 10 Sport claim Chelsea are hoping the wait gives them time to launch a rival offer for Aurier.

According to the report, Chelsea have declared their interest in the player and will make a suitable bid this summer.

PSG are willing to sell Serge Aurier this summer

Aurier is expected to leave PSG after requesting to stay out of their pre-season tour of the USA in order to secure a transfer.

He was refused entry into the UK for a Champions League match against Arsenal last season, having been arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Aurier has been earmarked as a viable contender for United's right-back position, with Antonio Valencia the other option for manager Jose Mourinho.

His arrival at Old Trafford would increase the likelihood of Matteo Darmian leaving.

But Le 10 Sport claim Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants reinforcements down the right, with Victor Moses currently his first choice of the wing-back spot.
