Oxlade-Chamberlain not seen as Keita back-up by Liverpool: Arsenal ace most likely signing

LIVERPOOL do not view Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as a back-up option to signing Naby Keita this summer, reports claim.

RB Leipzig's talent Naby Keita shows off his INCREDIBLE skills

The Reds are targeting both players as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his squad.

RB Leipzig star Keita is the German’s top midfield target and is willing to pay £50million for the 22-year-old.

The Bundesliga club are said to be demanding around £70m, but adding the expensive Guinea international won’t put Liverpool off Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsenal’s versatile winger is keen to feature more as a midfielder should he move to Anfield.

His contract situation has still not been sorted at the Emirates, with only 12 months remaining on his current deal.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will still be pursued by Liverpool regardless of a deal for Naby Keita

Arsenal will reluctantly sell if the stand-off with Oxlade-Chamberlain over a new deal continues

And Liverpool have been linked with a £25m move, having enquired about Oxlade-Chamberlain’s availability.

According to the Liverpool Echo, both are set to be pursued despite potentially filling similar roles.

A deal is not yet close for either player to join Liverpool.

However, Arsenal will reluctantly sell if the stand-off with Oxlade-Chamberlain over a new deal continues.

Liverpool are expected to bid if the Gunners decide to listen to offers, although Jurgen Klopp cannot necessarily guarantee him regular game time.

Interest remains in Southampton centre-half Virgil van Dijk, despite the Reds’ public apology for their initial alleged illegal approach.

The Liverpool Echo add Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently the most likely signing ahead of Keita and Van Dijk.

But the Arsenal star’s future relies heavily on how his contract saga plays out.
