Arsenal News: 'Outstanding' defender praise, £13.4m move eyed, Wenger's FA Cup revelation
EXPRESS SPORT brings you all the latest news coming out of the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger - Spotlight on
Arsene Wenger has hailed Nacho Monreal for his improvement since joining Arsenal from Malaga in 2013.
The 29-year-old Spain international is on the verge of signing a new long-term deal at the Emirates and Wenger reckons he fully deserves an extension.
“[His importance has been the] regularity of his performances, the fact that he has improved every year since he arrived“ Wenger said.
"He is not necessarily my first-choice left-back. At the moment he plays more than Kieran Gibbs but I think I'm a bit spoilt there because Gibbs has come back and has shown again on Saturday [that he plays] at a very, very strong level.
"That makes my decisions at that level very difficult but overall Nacho Monreal has been absolutely outstanding.
Nolito, Nacho Monreal, Arsene Wenger
Arsenal are reportedly readying a £13.4million move for Celta Vigo striker Nolito.
The Gunners are in the January transfer market for a striker as they bid to win their first Premier League title in 12 years.
And according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Arsene Wenger is planning to match Nolito's £13.4million release clause in a bid to bring him to the Emirates.
Nolito is also said to be attracting interest from Barcelona.
