There was an air of disbelief when Bournemouth yesterday made the 22-year-old an eight-figure signing just a year after Wolves ended his nomadic Arsenal career for just a fifth of that sum.

His five years at Arsenal had seen him sent out on loan to Huddersfield, Reading, Bolton, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons before me made the permanent move to Molineux and even though the fact he has not yet played in the Premier League makes him something of a gamble, Wenger believes he has what it takes be a success on the south coast.
