EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal line up £24m move for Barca ace Pedro as Wenger plots title charge

ARSENAL will begin their summer bid to overhaul Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League with a £24million move for Barcelona winger Pedro.

Pedro Player Profile

The Gunners’ shortcomings were brutally exposed by Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, as Jose Mourinho’s team brought Arsenal’s winning run to a halt with an efficiently ground out goalless draw that leaves them on the brink of the title.

Arsene Wenger’s team were unable to break down Chelsea’s ruthlessly organised defensive block and the Arsenal manager is looking to add more creativity and pace to his attack this summer.

Pedro, 27, is set to leave the Nou Camp after finding his place in Luis Enrique’s side too often taken by Luis Suarez this season and Arsenal are first in the queue, although both Manchester United, Liverpool and Inter Milan are all also keen.

Arsenal enquired about Pedro last year but are still interested in the Spanish international and are likely to make the first move once the season is finished.

Their need for a pacey wide man will become even more pressing should the disaffected Theo Walcott’s contract negotiations stall, and Liverpool, long time fans of the England player, finally make their move.

Pedro has scored 10 goals this season, and Wenger would like to re-unite him with Chilean Alexis Sanchez, who joined from Barca last summer and has been one of the successes of the season at the Emirates.
