Sandro was left out of the Spurs squad to face Fulham on the weekend and took to Twitter to inform his followers that he was fit and available to be selected.

Speaking after the match, Sherwood said: "He can tweet what he likes. When he shows me he is good enough he will get into the team. At the moment he isn't."

But in an interview with Brazilian media outlet Lancenet, Sandro responded: "I quietly received the news... I respect him, I have nothing against him, let him speak.

"I will continue working quietly, I'm a professional. I have to work. Everyone loves me at Tottenham, it is my home."

Sandro was asked about speculation that he could be in line for a cross town move to Spurs' fierce rivals Arsenal, he spoke of his dedication to Tottenham's fans.

He said: "I'm happy here at Tottenham. If the rival supporters want me to go to their team, I think I'm doing a good job and being recognised.

"Not only rivals, ours too. I just have to thank the fans of Tottenham, they are very dear to me. We have three games and need to work."

However Sandro's agent, Luiz Paulo Chignall, seemed less certain that his client would remain at White Hart Lane.

He said: "Sandro came back very well this year and how many teams are revamping their rosters for next season?

"Who knows? There might be some official interest from clubs, but you can only tell that at the end of the season and the beginning of the window.

"He is a high-level player, adapted to European football and is now creating interest in the market.

"Surely he will continue doing a good job no matter what club he is at."
